Sharron Whittingham
Centre Director
My name is Sharron Whittingham and I am proud to be the Centre Director at Goodstart Early Learning Studio Village. I have my Advanced Diploma and have worked in the childcare industry for the past 10 years.  As a professional caregiver I believe children learn best through positive guidance and support in a warm, safe and welcoming environment.

I would like to tell you a little about myself and why I feel I am qualified to care for your child. I have worked in youth residential shelters working with young people who had been abused, were homeless or awaiting a placement in a foster home. I have also worked with children with disabilities both physical and intellectual.

It is my belief that children need to understand and cherish their culture. The Code of Ethics Principle 1.12 states that 'carers will acknowledge the worth of cultural and linguistic diversity that children bring to the environment’ and by offering opportunities for children to learn about other cultures it is my hope that they will accept and respect people from other cultures. Children need to understand that not everyone is the same and that some children have disabilities. It is my hope that the children in my centre will learn that we are all unique and as such deserve respect and acceptance.

Families are the child’s primary carer and as such need to be actively involved in the centre.  The values and beliefs of each family will be reflected throughout my program to help to ensure that all families feel they belong to our community.  The Code of Ethics Principle 1.2 states that 'staff guide children’s behaviour in a positive way'. The principle goes on to state that ‘staff need to know children, family and their culture in order to offer the best possible care’.

Our aim is to provide programs that incorporate the community and develop the child’s interest in the wider community.

It is my believe that in my role as a child care provider I should be an advocate for all children and my fellow team members.

Here at Goodstart Early Learning Studio Village we pride ourselves on offering high quality care through stimulating learning opportunities that reflect each child’s needs. Goodstart Early Learning Studio Village is a family orientated centre that encourages family participation in all centre events and special celebrations.
